While I’m not a huge fan of resolutions (even the word annoys me), I am about goals, and I wanted to set some out for 2017 so I can look back at the end of the year to see if I’ve achieved them! I feel they’re actually exciting goals, and do-able!
See more of Home 🇬🇧
Sadly I don’t think we’ll be able to do as much travel outside of England, at least not in the first half of 2017, so instead I’d love to explore more of the UK! There are still cities I’ve yet to visit and beautiful areas of countryside to see and they’re only a train journey away!
Visit more National Trust sites 🍃
This goes hand in hand with the above point really, but Leo’s parents very kindly paid for me to be a National Trust member at the end of 2016 and I really want to put that membership to good use. We visited Bateman’s just after Christmas, where Rudyard Kipling used to live, and it’s fascinating how much history has been preserved in these places. There are a few National Trust areas in London but I’d love to visit more around the country.
Try to learn a new language 🇩🇪🇫🇷🇪🇸
I mentioned this in my latest video, but I don’t know any languages other than English! Aside the few words in French, Spanish and German by no means can I converse fluently and I feel really bad about it. First I’ll probably get back on the Duolingo hype and then maybe try and find an affordable course in London perhaps!
Create all the things! ✒️🎥
In 2016 I lost my blogging mojo slightly, due to work and videos taking over, so in 2017 I want to try and find more of a balance in creating both. Also, I want to be constantly thinking ahead and have loads of ideas written down so I’m never running out of things that can be filmed or written about!
Visit at least one gallery/museum in London every month 🎫
I live in one of the most exciting cities in the world and I feel like there’s so much I still need to see and do. There are loads of museums that let you in for free so my plan is to write a list and try visit one of those every month.
Feel better about myself 💁🏻
Ok so this one is more like the usual resolutions crap you see but I definitely want to work on loving myself more this year. This is both for internal and external – I want to be able to look in the mirror and not hate myself, observe my work and feel proud not immediately point out the flaws, start going to the gym again and work off the bad feelings to replace them with good ones. Read more, try take some short courses to get my brain working. Y’know, all that positive stuff!
Put happy things into the world ✌🏼
(well, my little part of the world)
I’d really like to try and volunteer some of my time this year (and beyond) to good causes big or small. Whether this is in person talking to people, physically helping, or online by doing things like social media and marketing, I’d just like to know I’m doing something to help people.
Those are my 7 goals and I feel they’re pretty do-able. I don’t see why they should be hugely difficult things though! Now I feel like hopefully I can easily tick all these off the list and be proud of myself at the end of the year. Here’s hoping! 😉
What goals have you set yourself for 2017?
