Last week I visited London for a couple of days and stayed with my wonderful friend Lee in Wimbledon. On Friday night where we would normally visit the theatre we chose instead to try out a new restaurant!
I’d seen a few tweets about Hot Pink Grill and had checked out the menu which looked amazing, so when we travelled back down to Wimbledon from Central London we walked down towards the New Wimbledon Theatre, where Hot Pink Grill is situated perfectly opposite! It’s worth mentioning here that HPG have a bargain lunch/pre-theatre menu Monday-Friday until 6pm where you can get your meal for £6 – such a bargain!
With this offer you pick your main, side and sauce, then you can add on extra sides too (which we did, obviously)! So I ended up with the Hot Pink lunch burger with cheese and bacon, with sweet potato wedges on the side and a BBQ sauce, and Lee picked the chicken skewers also with sweet potato wedges and the garlic and herb dip, then we picked halloumi and normal skinny fries to have as extras.
I don’t even know where to start with the food because I’m salivating just at the thought of our meals – so let’s talk drinks! Lee and I both had our eyes on the rum strawberry daiquiri until we found out sadly they’d run out, instead Lee went with a cider and I chose the most deliciously spiked milkshake, mmm mmm! On the menu it’s the Old Fashioned shake, and I asked for rum instead of bourbon. Goodness gracious, it tasted amazing.
Alright, back to the food. All of it was my favourite, I couldn’t pick one specific thing that was the best because it all tasted so good. Don’t be fooled by our plates looking empty – I was so full by the time we’d finished our meals! Usually when I order a burger I’m not asked how I wanted it to be cooked so I was surprised when the waitress asked but I went for medium rare and it was really nice to have it a bit different from the norm!
The sweet potato wedges were like heaven in a little bowl and when dipped in the sauces as well were incredible, I’ve never had sweet potato like this and I’m definitely going to try to replicate these! And the halloumi? That’s something I’ll be replicating too. Everything was cooked perfectly and really complemented each other.
As well as having amazing food and drinks, Hot Pink had such a great vibe to it, plus the staff were so friendly and helpful when we were faffing around trying to decide what to have. I loved this place and definitely can’t wait to visit again and try more of their delicious food, and I’d certainly recommend it to all! Considering an extremely filling meal plus drinks only came to just over £30, for London that’s quite a bargain to beat!
If they didn’t sound brilliant enough they also have a loyalty scheme for return customers, time to start collecting some stamps!
