For years and years I’ve seen photographs of the Northern Lights and dreamed of photographing them myself, and with us being in Iceland I was praying that we’d be lucky enough to see them.
Every single day of our trip we’d be checking the weather to see how clear the skies would be, as well as looking up on the aurora forecast judging the chances of us seeing it. After a lot of cloud cover, snow and wind, on our last night in Iceland we finally struck gold, or rather we struck green!
We ran outside in such a frenzy that standing out in -6°C and trying to stand as still as possible for a twenty second exposure with only a few thin layers on was quite a struggle. Totally worth it though, this was definitely a dream come true.
The aurora danced around the sky for a good couple of hours and it ended the trip on a perfect note, I’m so grateful to have finally seen this phenomena for myself, especially as some shooting stars joined the sky with the aurora too. It was truly a magical evening.
